Under The Rod Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCCD BBEEFFFG

Blind and helpless alone I waitA
The way seems dark and prayers too lateA
My anguished soul sends forth the cryB
Father save me ere I dieB
Save me for my children smallC
Leave them not to sin and fallC
Sending forth the saddened callC
Mother come back motherD
-
Blind and helpless days wear byB
Sick and friendless left to dieB
The darkness deepens as I gropeE
Afraid to live afraid to hopeE
They tell me of a better landF
Lord I cannot see Thy handF
Around me steals an icy bandF
Save me or I perishG
