Golden Gates Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB C DEDE FGFG HIHI JBJB

Sometime the golden gates will liftA
I know not how nor when 'twill beB
My soul the one immortal giftA
Will stand beside the changeless seaB
-
CHORUSC
-
Lift up ye gates ye golden gatesD
A soul would come before the throneE
Lift up ye gates ye golden gatesD
Ring out O bells in rapturous toneE
-
Sometime this poor world's light will fadeF
I'll walk alone the unknown wayG
But Christ my sins long since hath paidF
My home was purchased Easter dayG
-
Sometime the silver cloud will breakH
While glory pure my spirit thrillsI
We'll see our friends the crystal lakeH
Rest in sweet peace by love lit rillsI
-
Sometime my cross a crown will proveJ
Sometime my tears will jewels beB
Sometime all doubts Christ will removeJ
Blest be the time eternityB
