To The Muse Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDDEEFF GGHHHIIJJBBKKK

Queen of my songs harmonious maidA
Ah why hast thou withdrawn thy aidA
Ah why forsaken thus my breastB
With inauspicious damps oppress'dB
Where is the dread prophetic heatC
With which my bosom wont to beatC
Where all the bright mysterious dreamsD
Of haunted groves and tuneful streamsD
That woo'd my genius to divinest themesD
Say goddess can the festal boardE
Or young Olympia's form ador'dE
Say can the pomp of promis'd fameF
Relume thy faint thy dying flameF
-
Or have melodious airs the powerG
To give one free poetic hourG
Or from amid the Elysian trainH
The soul of Milton shall i gainH
To win thee back with some celestial strainH
O powerful strain o sacred soulI
His numbers every sense controulI
And now again my bosom burnsJ
The Muse the Muse herself returnsJ
Such on the banks of Tyne confess'dB
I hail'd the fair immortal guestB
When first she seal'd me for her ownK
Made all her blissful treasures knownK
And bade me swear to follow Her aloneK
