Ode On A Sermon Against Glory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDDD EFEFGGCCH

Come then tell me sage divineA
Is it an offence to ownB
That our bosoms e'er inclineA
Toward immortal glory's throneB
For with me nor pomp nor pleasureC
Bourbon's might Braganza's treasureC
So can fancy's dream rejoiceD
So conciliate reason's choiceD
As one approving word of her impartial voiceD
-
If to spurn at noble praiseE
Be the pass port to thy heavenF
Follow thou those gloomy waysE
No such law to me was givenF
Nor I trust shall I deplore meG
Faring like my friends before meG
Nor an holier place desireC
Than Timolean's arms acquireC
And Tully's curule chair and Milton's golden lyreH
