Inscriptions: I: For A Grotto Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHDDDIJDKDLM

To me whom in their lays the shepherds callA
Act a daughter of the neighbouring streamB
This cave belongs The fig tree and the vineC
Which o'er the rocky entrance downward shootD
Were plac'd by Glycon He with cowslips paleE
Primrose and purple lychnis deck'd the greenF
Before my threshold and my shelving wallsG
With honeysuckle cover'd Here at noonH
Lull'd by the murmur of my rising fountD
I slumber here my clustering fruits i tendD
Or from the humid flowers at break of dayD
Fresh garlands weave and chace from all my boundsI
Each thing impure or noxious Enter inJ
O stranger undismay'd nor bat nor toadD
Here lurks and if thy breast of blameless thoughtsK
Approve thee not unwelcome shalt thou treadD
My quiet mansion chiefly if thy nameL
Wise Pallas and the immortal muses ownM
