For A Statue Of Chaucer At Woodstock Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO

Such was old Chaucer such the placid mienA
Of him who first with harmony inform'dB
The language of our fathers Here he dweltC
For many a cheerful day these ancient wallsD
Have often heard him while his legends blitheE
He sang of love or knighthood or the wilesF
Of homely life through each estate and ageG
The fashions and the follies of the worldH
With cunning hand portraying Though perchanceI
From Blenheim's towers o stranger thou art comeJ
Glowing with Churchill's trophies yet in vainK
Dost thou applaud them if thy breast be coldL
To him this other hero who in timesM
Dark and untaught began with charming verseN
To tame the rudeness of his native landO
