The day is dead and in the west	A
The slender crescent of the moon	B
Diana's crystal kindled crest	A
Sinks hillward in a silvery swoon	B
What is the murmur in the dell	C
The stealthy whisper and the drip	D
A Dryad with her leaf light trip	D
Or Naiad o'er her fountain well	C
Who with white fingers for her comb	E
Sleeks her blue hair and from its curls	F
Showers slim minnows and pale pearls	F
And hollow music of the foam	E
What is it in the vistaed ways	G
That leans and springs and stoops and sways	G
The naked limbs of one who flees	H
An Oread who hesitates	I
Before the Satyr form that waits	I
Crouching to leap that there she sees	H
Or under boughs reclining cool	J
A Hamadryad like a pool	J
Of moonlight palely beautiful	K
Or Limnad with her lilied face	L
More lovely than the misty lace	L
That haunts a star and gives it grace	L
Or is it some Leimoniad	A
In wildwood flowers dimly clad	A
Oblong blossoms white as froth	M
Or mottled like the tiger moth	M
Or brindled as the brows of death	N
Wild of hue and wild of breath	N
Here ethereal flame and milk	O
Blent with velvet and with silk	O
Here an iridescent glow	P
Mixed with satin and with snow	P
Pansy poppy and the pale	Q
Serpolet and galingale	Q
Mandrake and anemone	R
Honey reservoirs o' the bee	S
Cistus and the cyclamen	R
Cheeked like blushing Hebe this	T
And the other white as is	U
Bubbled milk of Venus when	R
Cupid's baby mouth is pressed	A
Rosy to her rosy breast	A
And besides all flowers that mate	A
With aroma and in hue	V
Stars and rainbows duplicate	A
Here on earth for me and you	V

'Tis no shadow of the tree	S
Swaying softly there but she	S

What you will who doth enchant	A
Night with sensuous nudity	A
Lo again I hear her pant	A
Breasting through the dewy glooms	S
Through the glow worm gleams and glowers	S
Of the starlight wood perfumes	S
Swoon around her and frail showers	S
Of the leaflet tilted rain	R
Lo like love she comes again	R
Through the pale voluptuous dusk	W
Sweet of limb with breasts of musk	W
With her lips like blossoms breathing	X
Honeyed pungence of her kiss	S
And her auburn tresses wreathing	X
Like umbrageous helichrys	S
There she stands like fire and snow	R
In the moon's ambrosial glow	R
Both her shapely loins low looped	A
With the balmy blossoms drooped	A
Of the deep amaracus	S
Spiritual yet sensual	Q
Lo she ever greets me thus	S
In my vision white and tall	Q
Her delicious body there	Y
Raimented with amorous air	Y
To my mind expresses all	Q
The allurements of the world	A
And once more I seem to feel	Q
On my soul like frenzy hurled	A
All the passionate past I reel	Q
Greek again in ancient Greece	S
In the Pyrrhic revelries	S
In the mad and M nad dance	S
Onward dragged with violence	S
Pan and old Silenus and	A
Faunus and a Bacchant band	A
Round me Wild my wine stained hand	A
O'er tumultuous hair is lifted	A
While the flushed and Phallic orgies	S
Whirl around me and the marges	S
Of the wood are torn and rifted	A
With lascivious laugh and shout	A
And barbarian there again	R
Shameless with the shameless rout	A
Bacchus lusting in each vein	R
With her pagan lips on mine	R
Like a god made drunk with wine	R
On I reel and in the revels	S
Her loose hair the dance dishevels	S
Blows and 'thwart my vision swims	S
All the splendor of her limbs	S

So it seems Yet woods are lonely	A
And when I again awake	X
I shall find their faces only	A
Moonbeams in the boughs that shake	X
And their revels but the rush	Z
Of night winds through bough and brush	Z
Yet my dreaming is it more	A2
