Beirutshima! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCCC CDCD EFGF HEHE IJKJ LALA J

The allure skies began to trembleA
Before the horrible Bomb DomeB
Beirut weared a wide black mantleA
With moaning wounds in each homeB
-
As pigeons of peace died at dutyC
Beirut my ravishing moribund cityC
Revered for its destroyed beautyC
The sky quivered in bustling pityC
-
Ah August engraved in historyC
With mushroom clouds of doomD
A massacre a monstrous blisteryC
Staining blood agony in every roomD
-
Steeling from many the innocent lifeE
Yet the rest narrowly escaping deathF
Are actually dead suffering being aliveG
Are sorrowly alive in a poisoned breathF
-
Victims chewed by the evil falloutH
The epitaph can not return any lifeE
Children cowered with a heavy shoutH
Hearts cringed as stabbed by knifeE
-
So many politicians and scientistsI
Enslaved to produce a conclusionJ
We do not need to see their testsK
Their deterrence and bribed delusionJ
-
Anyone who made lives endL
Is Satan a monster a real devilA
Nations say weapons are to defendL
No They only permeat their evilA

Poet's note: Beirut was declared a "disaster city" on the 5th of August, in the wake of a huge explosion in the port of the Lebanese capital that left at least 158 people dead and 5,000 injured. The number of deaths is expected to climb amid ongoing search and rescue efforts. Many people were still missing the day after the blast, and 700,000 have been displaced from their homes.
