The Lights Of London Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDDCDC

The evenfall so slow on hills hath shotA
Far down into the valley's cold extremeB
Untimely midnight spire and roof and streamB
Like fleeing spectres shudder and are notA
The Hampstead hollies from their sylvan plotA
Yet cloudless lean to watch as in a dreamB
From chaos climb with many a sudden gleamB
London one moment fallen and forgotA
-
Her booths begin to flare and gases brightC
Prick door and window all her streets obscureD
Sparkle and swarm with nothing true or sureD
Full as a marsh of mist and winking lightC
Heaven thickens over Heaven that cannot cureD
Her tear by day her fevered smile by nightC
