Summer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFG HIIJGK LGMNOEK BRemember the days of our first happiness | A |
how strong we were how dazed by passion | B |
lying all day then all night in the narrow bed | C |
sleeping there eating there too it was summer | D |
it seemed everything had ripened | E |
at once And so hot we lay completely uncovered | F |
Sometimes the wind rose a willow brushed the window | G |
- | |
But we were lost in a way didn't you feel that | H |
The bed was like a raft I felt us drifting | I |
far from our natures toward a place where we'd discover nothing | I |
First the sun then the moon in fragments | J |
stone through the willow | G |
Things anyone could see | K |
- | |
Then the circles closed Slowly the nights grew cool | L |
the pendant leaves of the willow | G |
yellowed and fell And in each of us began | M |
a deep isolation though we never spoke of this | N |
of the absence of regret | O |
We were artists again my husband | E |
We could resume the journey | K |
