Vae Victis! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDD EFFEGGDD HIIHJJDD KLLKMMGG NOONPPQQ

Here in this isleA
The summer still lingersB
And Autumn's brown fingersB
So busy the whileA
With the leaves in the northC
Are scarcely put forthC
In this land where the sun still glows like an emberD
In mid NovemberD
-
In England it's coldE
And the yellow and redF
Of October have fledF
And the sun is wet goldE
Like an emperor weepingG
When Death goes a reapingG
All through his empire merciless comerD
The dead things of summerD
-
The sky has cried soH
That the earth is all soddenI
With dead leaves in troddenI
And the trees to and froH
Wave their arms in the airJ
In despair in despairJ
They are thinking of all the hot days that are overD
And the cows in the cloverD
-
Here the roses are outK
And the sun at high noonL
Makes the birds faint and swoonL
But the cricket's aboutK
With his song and the humM
Of the bees as they comeM
To feast at the honey board laden and groaningG
Makes musical droningG
-
But vainly alasN
Do I hide in the southO
Kiss close with my mouthO
Red flowers green grassN
For Autumn has found meP
And thrown her arms around meP
She has breathed on my lips and I wander apartQ
Dead leaves in my heartQ
