Manhattan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDEFGHII IJKLIKDLI IMNOPQDJD

Out of the night you burn ManhattanA
In a vesture of goldB
Span of innumerable arcsC
Flaring and multiplyingD
Gold at the uttermost circles fadingD
Into the tenderest hint of jadeE
Or fusing in tremulous twilight bluesF
Robing the far flung officesG
Scintillant storied forking flameH
Or soaring to luminous amethystI
Over the steeples aureoledI
-
Diaphanous goldI
Veiling the Woolworth argentlyJ
Rising slender and starkK
Mellifluous shrill as a vender's cryL
And towers squatting graven and coldI
On the velvet bales of the darkK
And the Singer's appraisingD
Indolent idol's eyeL
And night like a purple cloth unrolledI
-
Nebulous goldI
Throwing an ephemeral glory about life's vanishing pointsM
Wherein you burnN
You of unknown voltageO
Whirling on your axisP
Scrawling vermillion signaturesQ
Over the night's velvet hoardingD
Insolent towering sphericalJ
To apices ever shiftingD
