Punctuality Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ K ELEL

Man Naturally loves delayA
And to procrastinateB
Business put off from day to dayA
Is always done to lateB
-
Let ever hour be in its placeC
Firm fixed nor loosely shiftD
And well enjoy the vacant spaceC
As though a birthday giftD
-
And when the hour arrives be thereE
Where'er that there may beF
Uncleanly hands or ruffled hairE
Let no one ever seeF
-
If dinner at half past be placedG
At half past then be dressedH
If at a quarter past make hasteG
To be down with the restH
-
Better to be before you timeI
Than e're to be behindJ
To open the door while strikes the chimeI
That shows a punctual mindJ
-
MoralK
-
Let punctuality and careE
Seize every flitting hourL
So shalt thou cull a floweret fairE
E'en from a fading flowerL
