Swoop SwoopA
From dizzy skies thou singestB
To the shining earthC
To where unseenD
Amid the greenD
Untimely death thou bringestB
To unseeing mirthC
-
Upon a dark crag peeringE
Through half eclipsed eyeF
An eye unkindB
Dost meet the windB
With lifted head all hearingE
In the algid skyF
-
What awful thought is sittingE
In thy brain and breastB
That beats thy bloodB
With throbbing floodB
When linnets come night flittingE
To their night tide nestB
-
Neath wind torn skies fast speedingE
As the clouds aboveG
Dost skim and sailH
With wedge wrought tailH
Mid fledglings sweetly pleadingE
to departed loveG
-
Where is that love low lyingE
In a God made thingE
Of feathered formI
Is thy blood warmI
Thou bloody thing swift flyingE
That canst never singE
-
Swoop SwoopA
From dizzy skies thou swingestB
To the singing earthC
To where unseenD
Amid the greenD
Untimely death though bringestB
To unseeing mirthC
