The Coming Of War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCCDEDFEGGCHCH

Strong from the hills it comes and flowingA
riversB
Swift from the waters of the rising seasC
Swift on the chilling heart that waits and quiversC
With a terror of hideousiesC
Behind grey mist it comes and creeping cloudD
That licks the fading earth with foetid breathE
From plains it comes and silent lakes a shroudD
That holds unloosed the damned brigades ofF
deathE
It sweeps and passes Everything is deadG
Broken with foulness ravished as it bledG
A blow a weeping Then a silence liesC
Faint bells low tinkling from the bloody sodH
Rise from the depths of heart and touch the skiesC
And murmur at the very stairs of GodH
