| The very sobriquets for rot | A |

| The nurtured greenness of the place | C |
| The unstinting labor of heroes past | A |

| Our place is a sanctuary of apostates | C |
| With glib lips of logorrheic volubility | A |
| A reliquary of bromidic sermons | C |
| Everywhen wanglers and workers of wonders | C |
| From whose gri gris with surplus abreast | A |
| Camels through needles' eyes must go | E |

| Our place is the art of venality | A |
| Reigning and raining by leaps and bounds | C |
| With plenary powers and contumelies | C |
| Weltering dominant even on law's cot | A |
| Beginning and weaving deliberations through | F |
| And resident ever like a stay at home lioness | C |

| Our own place feels all the inflicting | E |
| Excruciating it bleeds it weeps it reacts | C |
| Shall not the ills wreaked and sired today | A |
| Seep into the making of tomorrow | E |
| Now then is time to begin the cathartic tread | A |

Poet's note: A poem that decries the deep-seated depravity trending in the country and teaming with such undue practices as political corruption, self-centeredness, hypocrisy and religious falsehood. It culminates calling all Nigerians for a corrupt-free tread to indeed serving our fatherland.
