The Night Ride Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNDOP

Gas flaring on the yellow platform voices running up and downA
Milk tins in cold dented silver half awake I stareB
Pull up the blind blink out all sounds are druggedC
the slow blowing of passengers asleepD
engines yawning water in heavy dripsE
Black sinister travellers lumbering up the stationF
one moment in the window hooked over bagsG
hurrying unknown faces boxes with strange labelsH
all groping clumsily to mysterious endsI
out of the gaslight dragged by private FatesJ
their echoes die The dark train shakes and plungesK
bells cry out the night ride starts againL
Soon I shall look out into nothing but blacknessM
pale windy fields the old roar and knock of the railsN
melts in dull fury Pull down the blind Sleep SleepD
Nothing but grey rushing rivers of bush outsideO
Gaslight and milk cans Of Rapptown I recall nothing elseP
