Taoist Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCAEFGHGEIJKLMINO PIPN| THOSE friends of Lao Tzu those wise old men | A |
| Dozing all day in lemon silken robes | B |
| With tomes of beaten jade spread knee to knee | C |
| And pipe stem shining cold with silver poised | D |
| In steaming play and still a finger free | C |
| To dog the path of some forgotten pen | A |
| Almost their bee sweet ancient words incline | E |
| My mind to those old pagan ways beloved | F |
| By mandarins and mages now but dust | G |
| In drowsy pyramids What creed is this | H |
| Save that which those philosophers discussed | G |
| In gold pavilions over musky wine | E |
| 'Repenting always of forgotten wrongs | I |
| Will never bring thy heart to rest for thought | J |
| Repairs no whit of evil rather cast | K |
| Thy meditations in that utter void | L |
| To which all human deeds resolve at last ' | M |
| So runs the burden of their thousand songs | I |
| Here in this dark Star Chamber of the soul | N |
| You stand arraigned O slayer of my heart | O |
| But I am tired of hoarding up the grist | P |
| Of anger and remember Lao Tzu | I |
| Revenge is empty to the Taoist | P |
| And tears of penitence a futile toll | N |
