Chessmen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABACACDEFEGEGH| CHAFING on flags of ebony and pearl | A |
| My paladins are waiting Loops of smoke | B |
| Stoop slowly from the coffee cups and curl | A |
| In thin fantastic patterns down the room | C |
| By cabinets of chinaware to whirl | A |
| With milky blue tobacco steam and fume | C |
| Together past our pipes outside the door | D |
| Soon may we lounge in silence O my friend | E |
| Behind those carven men at arms of chess | F |
| Dyed coral red with dragon's blood and spend | E |
| The night with noiseless warfare Queens and rooks | G |
| With chiselled ivory warriors must contend | E |
| And counter plots from old Arabian books | G |
| Be conjured to the march of knights and pawns | H |
