Those blues and reds are broken apart | B |
But there s a river of trouble that is right in the middle | C |
A stream of blood flowing and pouring out from the dust of the earth | D |
- | |
The shedder dreams of what was once there | E |
They are now just photos that are black and white | F |
Looking bleak for a future that we are looking forward too | G |
And noises drowning out the sounds we hear now made us deaf | H |
But the darkness is out dancing while the light dims | I |
- | |
Give me your hand and let me lead you | G |
To a better way of living | J |
Let me touch your soul | K |
As a way of giving | J |
Yourself to the cause of right | F |
To fight what is wrong | L |
Instead of what s right | F |
- | |
There s a grey line in the middle | C |
There s a grey line in the middle | C |
Yes in the middle of the air | E |
Because it is up in the middle of the air | E |
There s a grey line in the middle of the air | E |
- | |
Can you hear the train coming | J |
In the station of reality | A |
Thinking outside of ourselves | M |
Like a circle | C |
Yes that circle called life | N |
- | |
There are mothers in the streets | O |
Protesting for a wrong turned upside down | P |
While there s a force out there | E |
Who wants to tear up and tear down | P |
The very fabric of justice we try to keep | Q |
But the nation remains divided | R |
- | |
Hungry people everywhere | E |
Looking for someone to eat | S |
While the government puts a no vacancy sign | T |
On their ivory towers and those who looks down on them | U |
Like we don t belong | L |
But treat us wrong | L |
While we crawl on our bellies hungry | A |
Looking for something to eat | S |
- | |
Who am I to get an attitude | V |
When my woman burnt up my food | V |
While the cost of living picks our pockets clean | W |
While there are some who blows their noses with hundred dollar bills | X |
Then disregard them for the next sucker to pick it up | Y |
- | |
I look above my head | Z |
And this is what I see | A |
Buzzards flying over me to pick my dry bones | A2 |
As I lay helpless | B2 |
- | |
And while a nation is pulled apart | B |
Torn asunder with no care and no regrets | C2 |
- | |
Now meanwhile a nation watches Mr Smith slaps a Rock | D2 |
For being funny ha ha | E2 |
About his lady s looks | F2 |
Then again still torn apart | B |
As a nation rocks and weaves from that punch in the gut | G2 |
- | |
Those blues and reds are a blur line | T |
But there s no doubt we are divided | R |
Separated by race | H2 |
Separated by culture | I2 |
Separated by political affiliation | J2 |
And now separated to be separated to be separated | R |
But yet divided | R |
