A Social CommentaryA
-
Those blues and reds are broken apartB
But there s a river of trouble that is right in the middleC
A stream of blood flowing and pouring out from the dust of the earthD
-
The shedder dreams of what was once thereE
They are now just photos that are black and whiteF
Looking bleak for a future that we are looking forward tooG
And noises drowning out the sounds we hear now made us deafH
But the darkness is out dancing while the light dimsI
-
Give me your hand and let me lead youG
To a better way of livingJ
Let me touch your soulK
As a way of givingJ
Yourself to the cause of rightF
To fight what is wrongL
Instead of what s rightF
-
There s a grey line in the middleC
There s a grey line in the middleC
Yes in the middle of the airE
Because it is up in the middle of the airE
There s a grey line in the middle of the airE
-
Can you hear the train comingJ
In the station of realityA
Thinking outside of ourselvesM
Like a circleC
Yes that circle called lifeN
-
There are mothers in the streetsO
Protesting for a wrong turned upside downP
While there s a force out thereE
Who wants to tear up and tear downP
The very fabric of justice we try to keepQ
But the nation remains dividedR
-
Hungry people everywhereE
Looking for someone to eatS
While the government puts a no vacancy signT
On their ivory towers and those who looks down on themU
Like we don t belongL
But treat us wrongL
While we crawl on our bellies hungryA
Looking for something to eatS
-
Who am I to get an attitudeV
When my woman burnt up my foodV
While the cost of living picks our pockets cleanW
While there are some who blows their noses with hundred dollar billsX
Then disregard them for the next sucker to pick it upY
-
I look above my headZ
And this is what I seeA
Buzzards flying over me to pick my dry bonesA2
As I lay helplessB2
-
And while a nation is pulled apartB
Torn asunder with no care and no regretsC2
-
Now meanwhile a nation watches Mr Smith slaps a RockD2
For being funny ha haE2
About his lady s looksF2
Then again still torn apartB
As a nation rocks and weaves from that punch in the gutG2
-
Those blues and reds are a blur lineT
But there s no doubt we are dividedR
Separated by raceH2
Separated by cultureI2
Separated by political affiliationJ2
And now separated to be separated to be separatedR
But yet dividedR
