- 1. They Tell Me
Mom says, “Shoulders back and stand up straight.”
I do what she says, but I’m crumbling under all the weight.
She says, “Stop acting like a boy.”
So, I give in and allow her to dress me up like some kind of toy.

You keep telling me that my heart is still beating,
Yet, I’m sick to the point I wonder what’s worth treating.
My heart is broken and the pieces have gone,
And life is starting to seem like a battle that can’t be won.
