The Wounded Bird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGHIG JKLMNLOPHQRSA ATUDLVLHVHI

In the wide bedA
Under the freen embroidered quiltB
With flowers and leaves always in soft motionC
She is like a wounded bird resting on a poolD
-
The hunter threw his dartE
And hit her breastF
Hit her but did not killG
O my wings lift me lift meH
I am not dreadfully hurtI
Down she dropped and was stillG
-
Kind people come to the edge of the pool with basketsJ
Of course what the poor bird wants is plenty of foodK
Their bags and pockets are crammed almost to burstingL
With dinner scrapings and scraps from the servants'M
lunchN
Oh how pleased they are to be really givingL
In the past you know you know you were always soO
fly awayP
So seldom came to the window sill so rarelyH
Shared the delicious crumbs thrown into the yardQ
Here is a delicate fragment and her a tit bitR
As good as new And here's a morsel of relishS
And cake and bread and bread and bread and breadA
-
At night in the wide bedA
With the leaves and flowersT
Gently weaving in the darknessU
She is like a wounded bird at rest on a poolD
Timidly timidly she lifts her head from her wingL
In the sky there are two starsV
Floating shiningL
O waters do not cover meH
I would look long and long at those beautiful starsV
O my wings lift me lift meH
I am not so dreadfully hurtI
