The Pillar Box Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCB DEDEFE GGGGHG GEGECE

The pillar box is fat and redA
The pillar box is highB
It has the flattest sort of headA
And not a nose or eyeB
But just one open nigger mouthC
That grins when I go byB
-
The pillar box is very roundD
But hungry all the dayE
Although it doesn't make a soundD
Folks know it wants to sayE
Give me some letter sandwichesF
To pass the time awayE
-
A postage stamp I like to eatG
Or gummy letteretteG
I see the people on the streetG
If it is fine or wetG
Give something to the greedy thingH
They never quite forgetG
-
The pillar box is quite a friendG
When Father goes awayE
My Mother has such lots to sendG
Far letters every dayE
And so I drop them in its mouthC
When I go out to playE
