The Half Soled Boots With Toecaps ChildA
Walked out into the streetB
And splashed in all the pubbles tillC
She had such shocking feetB
-
The Patent Leather Slipper ChildA
Stayed quietly in the houseD
And sat upon the fender stoolE
As still as any mouseD
-
The Half Soled Boots With Toecaps ChildA
Her hands were black as inkF
She would come running through the houseD
And begging for a drinkF
-
The Patent Leather Slipper ChildA
Her hands were white as snowG
She did not like to play aroundH
She only liked to sewG
-
The Half Soled Boots With Toecaps ChildA
Lost hair ribbons galoreI
She dropped them on the garden walksJ
She dropped them on the floorI
-
The Patent Leather Slipper ChildA
O thoughtful little girlK
She liked to walk quite soberlyL
It kept her hair in curlK
-
The Half Soled Boots With Toecaps ChildA
When she was glad or proudM
Just flung her arms round Mother's neckN
And kissed her very loudM
-
The Patent Leather Slipper ChildA
Was shocked at such a sightO
She only offered you her cheekP
At morning and at nightO
-
O Half Soled Boots With Toecaps ChildA
Your happy laughing faceQ
Does like a scented Summer roseR
Make sweet the dullest placeQ
-
O Patent Leather Slipper ChildA
My dear I'm well contentS
To have my daughter in my armsT
And not an ornamentU
