Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL MNMN OPOP ABAB

Shadow children thin and smallA
Now the day is left behindB
You are dancing on the wallA
On the curtains on the blindB
-
On the ceiling children tooC
Peeping round the nursery doorD
Let me come and play with youC
As we always played beforeD
-
Let's pretend that we have wingsE
And can really truly flyF
Over every sort of thingsE
Up and up into the skyF
-
Where the sweet star children playG
It does seem a dreadful ruleH
They must stay inside all dayG
I suppose they go to schoolH
-
And to night dears do you seeI
They are having such a raceJ
With their father moon the treeI
Almost hides his funny faceJ
-
Shadow children once at nightK
I was all tucked up in bedL
Father moon came such a frightK
Through the window poked his headL
-
I could see his staring eyesM
O my dears I was afraidN
That was not a nice surpriseM
And the dreadful noise I madeN
-
Let us make a fairy ringO
Shadow children hand in handP
And our songs quite softly singO
That we learned in fairylandP
-
Shadow children hin and smallA
See the day is far behindB
And I kiss you on the wallA
On the curtains on the blindB
