When You Come Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFE GHGHIJIJ KLKLMAMA NONPHQHQ

All will be right when you come home dear ladA
But oh 'tis long of coming that you areB
Everything's wrong with all the world and sadA
There are so many hurt in this long warC
So many missing who will never comeD
Lying out in the rain and in the coldE
I shall forget it all when you come homeF
I shall forget the lonesome things they toldE
-
There's something something sad that troubles meG
Beats like the rain upon my frightened heartH
A tale about a girl the thing might beG
Whispered in corners secret and apartH
How he was killed and how she never knewI
Because God put a small cloud on her mindJ
And how she waited the black winters throughI
And the wet summers surely God was kindJ
-
I took a daisy from the garden bedK
And plucked the petals one by one to tellL
When I and my true lover should be wedK
This year Next year Never the petals fellL
And stopped at Never But it could not guessM
The foolish daisy what true love I hadA
I turned from daisies and I plucked heartseaseM
To rest my heart on and be safe and gladA
-
Everything's wrong Love since you went awayN
Such a queer world when all the boys are goneO
And there is no one left but old and greyN
Women and children frightened and aloneP
Sometimes the tale is crying at my heartH
Of that poor girl Maybe 'twas but a dreamQ
When you come home the shadows will departH
The lonesome dreams die off in morning gleamQ
