Vigil Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEFE GHIJ KLKL MNMN OPQP

At night when all the house is stillA
Wide waked the chairs and tables comeB
And yawn and stretch their limbs untilA
The maids appear with pan and broomC
-
Through the dim hours they creak and groanD
Their laughter plays with tyrant ManE
Shaken with stiff derisionF
For his pretensions and his spanE
-
Where's then their willing servitudeG
Meek slaves for their creator's useH
They make a mock of flesh and bloodI
That passes with a morning's dewsJ
-
The heart that once leaped in the treeK
Yet lives in the fantastic shapesL
That foolish Man hath made to beK
But see how wide yon cupboard gapesL
-
With ' Yours' and 'Mine' they make great sportM
Who saw us come and see us goN
And will be when no least reportM
Of us but what a stone can showN
-
When ghosts and owlets flit abroadO
The furniture's awake awareP
The floor complaining of its loadQ
And what a creaking of the stairP
