To Two Bereaved Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFH IJIJ KLKL HMHN OJPB

Now in your days of worst distressA
The empty days that stretch beforeB
When all your sweet's turned bitternessC
The Hand of the Lord is at your doorB
-
-
And when at morn beside your bedD
Grief waits to tell you it is trueE
That both your darling boys are deadD
The Mercy of the Lord bends down to youE
-
-
When you are frozen and stripped bareF
And over your joy is raised a stoneG
The foot of the Lord is on your stairF
The Lord's mercy is never doneH
-
-
More than the joys of common menI
The gifts of the Lord are past desireJ
They shall be given to you againI
They shall sit down beside your fireJ
-
-
The young and laurelled heads shall shineK
Making a glory in your daysL
As a light burns in a secret shrineK
The Love of the Lord is passing praiseL
-
-
The Lord recalls not gifts once givenH
They shall sit down beside your hearthM
They shall come in in white new shrivenH
Make you new Heaven and a new earthN
-
-
The Will of the Lord is great and goodO
The cup of your joy shall He brim o'erJ
They shall come in with life renewedP
They shall go out from you no moreB
