The Young Mother Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB CCDEC FFCCF GHCCH

In dreadful times of tears and warA
She sails a little fixed starB
Or like a little ship she glidesC
With gentle winds and favouring tidesC
Up to the harbour barB
-
-
Wrapped in all mild tranquillitiesC
She muses inward gaze her eyesC
And lest she slip upon a stoneD
Gabriel or some shining oneE
Guards her high destiniesC
-
-
No rumour reaches her at allF
Beyond her safe encompassing wallF
Of a mad world that slays and slaysC
She sees a little one that playsC
And sleeps at evenfallF
-
-
She is in the House of Life and whereG
She goes the angels bend to herH
A little secret garden closeC
Sweet with the lily and the roseC
With frankincense and myrrhH
