Fresh as a morning rose in morning dew | B |
We give our men in keeping | C |
Watch them waking watch them sleeping | C |
Lest our hearts should break O keep trust and be true | B |
- | |
The old saints are beset with many prayers | A |
The knees of centuries have worn their stairs | A |
But you O little nun | D |
Heaven's youngest littlest one | D |
You are strong to lift our burdens and our cares | A |
- | |
Your childish hands have roses pink and pale | E |
That climb the trellises of Heaven and trail | E |
Shake your roses down before them | F |
Your dear heart be sorry for them | F |
Keep them safe within the shadow of your veil | E |
- | |
You lift hands for France O lift them heaven high | G |
For those who fight with France who bleed and die | G |
Pluck the robe of Heaven O Dear | H |
So the Heart of Heaven may hear | I |
That never yet was hardened to your cry | G |
