The Predestined Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK

Dear we might have known you wereA
To die young and were we blindB
To the light on face and hairC
Dear so simple and so kindB
-
You were clean as your own swordD
And as straight too and steel trueE
In the Army of the LordD
What promotion waits for youE
-
I can see you where you standF
Knightly soul so clean so braveG
With a new sword in your handF
Where the lilied banners waveG
-
Flower of simple chivalryH
Marked for honour and for graceI
It was very plain to seeH
The clear shining of your faceI
-
You are gone now it's turned coldJ
Very good you were and dearK
Wear the looks you wore of oldJ
When we meet some other yearK
