The Old Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GHII JJKK LLMM CCNN

Out of my door I step intoA
The country all her scent and dewA
Nor travel there by a hard roadB
Dusty and far from my abodeB
-
The country washes to my doorC
Green miles on miles in soft uproarC
The thunder of the woods and thenD
The backwash of green surf againD
-
Beyond the feverfew and stocksE
The guelder rose and hollyhocksE
Outside my trellised porch a treeF
Of lilac frames a sky for meF
-
A stretch of primrose and pale greenG
To hold the tender Hesper inH
Hesper that by the moon makes paleI
Her silver keel and silver sailI
-
The country silence wraps me quiteJ
Silence and song and pure delightJ
The country beckons all the dayK
Smiling and but a step awayK
-
This is that country seen acrossL
How many a league of love and lossL
Prayed for and longed for and as farM
As fountains in the desert areM
-
This is that country at my doorC
Whose fragrant airs run on beforeC
And call me when the first birds stirN
In the green wood to walk with herN
