The Mother Of Three Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI JKJK LEME ABAB

Oh to have a little farmA
A little hearth so warm and brightB
And three little boys all safe from harmA
In from the winter nightB
-
A little house with white washed wallC
And thatched like any golden rickD
And the little boys within my callC
And they running so quickD
-
A garden and an apple treeE
And me so busy all the dayF
And the little boys at home with meE
Merry out at their playF
-
There was a woman I've heard tellG
Whose three fine sons were killed For sureH
'Tis good to have them little and wellG
And just beyond your doorI
-
This while back there is something wrongJ
It may be that I miss the boysK
Who filled the house the whole day longJ
With happy laughter and noiseK
-
And often when I sit my loneL
The sadness comes and lies on meE
For the poor soul that has no sonM
And me having the threeE
-
And it's oh to have the little farmA
Under the golden thatch so brightB
And the little boys safe home from harmA
Shut in with me at nightB
