The Long Vacation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEFE GHGH

To Amy WainwrightA
-
-
This is the time the boys come home from schoolB
Filling the house with gay and happy noiseC
Never at rest from morn till evening coolB
All the roads of the world bring home the boysC
-
This is the time but still they are not comeD
The mothers stand in the doorway listening longE
Long long they shall wait ere the boys come homeF
Where do they tarry the dear the light heart throngE
-
Their feet are heavy as lead and deep their restG
The mothers watch the road till set of sunH
But nevermore the birds fly back to the nestG
The roads of the world run Heavenward every oneH
