The Little Old Woman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHI JKJL

There's a Little Old Woman walks in the nightA
Singing her love song like a falling keenB
The Little Old Woman is the heart's delightA
With the gold crown under her hood to tell her queenB
-
The Little Old Woman's coming up this wayC
Playing on her harp strings a magic airD
There's this one and that one they may not stayC
Stealing out in the night after the playerE
-
The Little Old Woman is at the doorF
Though 'tis a queen she is in rags she goesG
Open the door to her long waited forF
Oh Love and Delight you are the Dear Black RoseG
-
The Little Old Woman she is begging breadH
She shall never go hungry while the ages passI
With the love of her lovers she shall be fedH
And their hearts lie under her feet in the green grassI
-
They go from the lit board and the fire of peatJ
And the dreams and the longing stir in the bloodK
Sweet to be poor with her yea death is sweetJ
For the Dear Rose of Beauty in the beggar's hoodL
