The Heroes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HEHE IJIJ EKEK

By such strange and wonderful waysA
God would save His world againB
All our days are holy daysA
Starry heroes all our menB
-
There's naught common or uncleanC
In this splendid new made earthD
Hearts uplifted eyes sereneC
Grief goes gayer now than mirthD
-
Quietly in the sacred nightE
Tears must fall O noble tearsF
That are shed in the Lords' sightE
And are only for His earsG
-
Who would mourn aloud for sonsH
Gorgeous in our firmamentE
Starry constellationsH
In the way their fathers wentE
-
From the innumerable graveI
There will spring a world new bornJ
With the austerest eyes and braveI
And its clear gaze towards the mornJ
-
He who gave His Son to dieE
For man's purchase gives once moreK
These His beloved sons to buyE
Him a world worth dying forK
