The Heart Of A Boy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLML

To Mrs Guy WyndhamA
-
-
The heart of a boy is full of lightB
Naked of self quite pure and cleanC
No shadows lurk in it it is brightB
Where God Himself hath beenD
-
I looked in a boy's heart and sawE
How its desire was white desireF
Burning upward as winds might drawE
The flame of a candle higherF
-
What was the heart's desire that burnedG
Like a white candle stirred in a breezeH
Power or glory or honour earnedG
Love that is more than theseH
-
The heart of a boy has but one goalI
The flying Danger smiles as she fliesJ
Makes her own of him heart and soulI
With the lure of her lovely eyesJ
-
The boy's heart now is set on a starK
A sword for the weak against the strongL
A young knight riding forth to the WarM
Who dies to right the wrongL
