The Dream: (for My Father) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CD D EFEF GHGH AIAI

Over and over again I dream a dreamA
I am coming home to you in the starlit gloamB
Long was the day from you and sweet 'twill seemA
The day is over and I am coming homeB
-
Then I shall find you as in days long pastC
Sitting so quietly in the firelight glowD
'Love ' you will say to me 'you are come at last '-
Your eyes be glad of me as long agoD
-
All I have won since then will slip my holdE
Dear love and children the long years awayF
I shall come home to you the girl of oldE
Glad to come home to you oh glad to stayF
-
Often and often I am dreaming yetG
Of the firelit window when I've crossed the hillH
And I coming home to you from night and wetG
Often and often I am dreaming stillH
-
Over and over again I dream my dreamA
Ah why would it haunt me if it wasn't trueI
I am travelling home to you by the last red gleamA
In the quiet evening I am finding youI
