The Doves Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIJI KLKL LMLM GFEF

The house where I was bornA
Where I was young and gayB
Grows old amid its cornA
Amid its scented hayB
-
Moan of the cushat doveC
In silence rich and deepD
The old head I loveC
Nods to its quiet sleepD
-
Where once were nine and tenE
Now two keep house togetherF
The doves moan and complainG
All day in the still weatherF
-
What wind bitter and greatH
Has swept the country's faceI
Altered made desolateJ
The heart remembered placeI
-
What wind bitter and wildK
Has swept the towering treesL
Beneath whose shade a childK
Long since gathered hearteaseL
-
Under the golden eavesL
The house is still and sadM
As though it grieves and grievesL
For many a lass and ladM
-
The cushat doves complainG
All day in the still weatherF
Where once were nine or tenE
But two keep house togetherF
