Rhyme Scheme: A BBCD EEDD FFDD GGDD

James Cecil Johnston Suvla August thA
-
-
Only an hour ago we were fearful for youB
Knowing the death and the darkness behind and before youB
Years ago it might be since we were afraidC
Nothing can harm you now O dear brown headD
-
You have come into port with a favouring windE
We are tossing yet in the seas unkindE
All around you the light and glory are shedD
We are in darkness without you dear brown headD
-
Heart and soul of a boy simple and merryF
Never now to grow old never be wearyF
Light in the Land of the Young is your springing treadD
Long and heavy the road to you dear brown headD
-
The House of God is full in the August daysG
Full of the young coming home by the bitter waysG
Their beds are made near God and the table spreadD
And you lying down sitting down with them dear brown headD
