The Choice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FFGH IIJJ KKLL MMNO PQRR SSTU MMVW

When skies are blue and days are brightA
A kitchen garden's my delightA
Set round with rows of decent boxB
And blowsy girls of hollyhocksB
-
Before the lark his Lauds hath doneC
And ere the corncrake's southward goneD
Before the thrush good night hath saidE
And the young Summer's put to bedE
-
The currant bushes' spicy smellF
Homely and honest likes me wellF
The while on strawberries I feastG
And raspberries the sun hath kissedH
-
Beans all a blowing by a rowI
Of hives that great with honey goI
With mignonette and heaths to yieldJ
The plundering bee his honey fieldJ
-
Sweet herbs in plenty blue borageK
And the delicious mint and sageK
Rosemary marjoram and rueL
And thyme to scent the winter throughL
-
Here are small apples growing roundM
And apricots all golden gownedM
And plums that presently will flushN
And show their bush a Burning BushO
-
Cherries in nets against the wallP
Where Master Thrush his madrigalQ
Sings and makes oath a churl is heR
Who grudges cherries for a feeR
-
Lavender sweet briar orris HereS
Shall Beauty make her pomanderS
Her sweet balls for to lay in clothesT
That wrap her as the leaves the roseU
-
Take roses red and lilies whiteM
A kitchen garden's my delightM
Its gillyflowers and phlox and clovesV
And its tall cote of irised dovesW
