Song Of Going Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIHI

I would not like to live to be very oldA
To be stripped cold and bareB
Of all my leafage that was green and goldA
In the delicious airB
-
I would not choose to live to be left aloneC
The children gone awayD
And the true love that I have leant uponE
No more my staff and stayD
-
I would not live to stretch my shrivelled handsF
To an old fire died lowG
Minding me of the long lost happy landsF
And children long agoG
-
Let me be gone while I am leafy yetH
And while my birds still singI
Lest leafless birdless my dull heart forgetH
That ever it had SpringI
