Flower O' The Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBA CCDDC EEDDE BBFFB

The laggard year is now at primeA
And primrose time is daffodil timeA
Where do the boys delay What tetherB
Hinders them from the heavenly weatherB
From violet time and cowslip timeA
-
Why do they keep the house so lateC
The sweet o' the year is at the gateC
And hear the cuckoo calling sayingD
Up slug a bed 'Tis time for MayingD
The cuckoo calling early and lateC
-
They have stolen away before the dawnE
No print in the May dew on the lawnE
Betrays the way their light feet takingD
Set not the quaking grass to shakingD
Running so light foot in the dawnE
-
The primrose and the daffodil weatherB
Is here and cowslips troop togetherB
The lambs frolic in pastures goldF
But since they come not it is coldF
Cold the primrose and daffodil weatherB
