Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEGHI JKJKLL MNMNOP QRSRTT

Those twelve years from AscensionA
Until the day of meeting brokeB
She was not so much all aloneC
As it might seem to common folkB
Because no day passed without blissD
He gives Himself back to her kissD
-
He comes no more in human guiseE
Yet He is in their midst againF
His wounds are there in all men's eyesE
So doubting Thomas sees them plainG
They pour the Wine and break the BreadH
And the heart's hunger's comfortedI
-
The Apostle takes the Cup of WineJ
The white Bread on the paten brightK
O Food of angels dear divineJ
The Lord of Life comes down in lightK
And sweeter than the honeycombL
Rests in the heart that was His homeL
-
Give place His Mother's claim is firstM
Her arms embrace her Son once moreN
On the kind breast where He was nurstM
He hath sweet ease as oft beforeN
Morn after morn through the twelve yearsO
His love makes rapture of her tearsP
-
She guards the youngling Church as onceQ
She kept her small Son while He grewR
Safe sheltered from the winds and sunsS
Comforted with soft rain and dewR
Till it's full grown and she is freeT
For the long bliss that is to beT
