To Our President Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBADEFEDF

HOPE of the Nations lift thy stricken heartA
Thyself art Sorrow and to thee the cryB
Of battle anguish comes more piercinglyC
Than even in those months of sneer and smartA
When thou so steadfastly didst bear thy partA
True Champion of Peace And now when highB
The war storm rages when horne's darlings dieB
By mangled thousands lift thy stricken heartA
For a white shield of mercy torch that throwsD
Its reconciling gleam across the seasE
O thou in love and grief pre eminentF
Divine shall be thy comfort to appeaseE
These bleeding Christian armies sudden foesD
That slaughter in a fierce astonishmentF
