This Tattered Catechism Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBBADEDEFE

THIS tattered catechism weaves a spellA
Invoking from the Long Ago a childB
Who deemed her fledgling soul so sin defiledB
She practised with a candle flame at hellA
Burning small fingers that would still rebelC
And flinch from fire Forsooth not all beguiledB
By hymn and sermon when her mother smiledB
That smile was fashioning an infidelA
'If I'm in hell ' the baby logic ranD
'Mother will hear me cry and come for meE
If God says no I don't believe He canD
Say no to mother ' Then at that dear kneeE
She knelt demure a little PuritanF
Whose faith in love had wrecked theologyE
