Mother Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCCCDCDC

'MOTHER Mother ' he called as he fellA
In the horror thereB
Of a bursting shellA
That strewed red flesh on the airB
Far away over sea and landC
The knitting droptC
From an old white handC
And a heart for an instant stoptC
But it was Death dark mother and wiseD
All tenderestC
Who kissed his eyesD
And gathered him to her breastC
