In August Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJJ KKJJ

BESIDE the country road with truant graceA
Wild carrot lifts its circles of white laceA
From vines whose interwoven branches drapeB
The old stone walls come pungent scents of grapeB
The sumach torches burn the hardhack glowsC
From off the pines a healing fragrance blowsC
The pallid Indian pipe of ghostly kinD
Listens in vain for stealthy moccasinD
In pensive mood a faded robin singsE
A butterfly with dusky gold flecked wingsE
Holds court for plumy dandelion seedF
And thistledown on throne of fireweedF
The road goes loitering on till it hath missedG
Its way in goldenrod to keep a trystG
Beyond the mosses and the ferns that veilH
The last faint lines of its forgotten trailH
With Lonely Lake so crystal clear that oneI
May see its bottom sparkling in the sunI
With many colored stones The only stirJ
On its green banks is of the kingfisherJ
Dipping for prey but oft these haunted nightsK
That mirror shivers into dazzling lightsK
Cleft by a falling star a messengerJ
From some bright battle lost ExcaliburJ
