That name rides high on our wrath and crime | E |
For the Light in darkness shone | F |

And thou fair youngling wilt mend the tale | G |
The New Year stared on the misty word | H |
Where at foot of a cross all lustrous pale | G |
Men raged for their gods of gold | I |

Come back Old Year with thy burden bent | J |
Come back and settle thine own dark debt | K |
Nay let me haste where the years repent | J |
For I've seen what I would forget | K |

And I the first of a stately train | L |
The tramp of a century heard behind | M |
