The Lily Of The Lake. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABCCCB DDAAEFFFE AAEEGHHHG

Over wastes of blasted heatherA
Where the pine trees stand togetherA
Evermore my footsteps wanderA
Evermore the shadows yonderA
Deepen into gloomB
Where there lies a silent lakeC
No song bird there its thirst may slakeC
No sunshine now to whiteness wakeC
The water lily's bloomB
-
Some sweet spring time long departedD
I and she the simple heartedD
Bride and bridegroom maid and loverA
Did that gloomy lake discoverA
Did those lilies seeE
There we wandered side by sideF
There it was they said she diedF
But ah in this I know they liedF
She will return to meE
-
Never never since that hourA
Has the lake brought forth a flowerA
Ever harshly do the sedgesE
Some sad secret from its edgesE
Whisper to the shoreG
Some sad secret I forgetH
The lily though will blossom yetH
And when it blooms I shall have metH
My love for evermoreG
